Honoring your need for change.

Have you ever felt stuck? Obligated to continue on a path that is no longer serving you? Responsible to a job? Duty-bound to be somewhere you didn’t really want to be? “Required” to do “x, y, z” because of “a, b, c?”
If you answered yes to any of the above then, Hey, I hear you! Me, too!
I’m currently living an experience in which I know, without doubt, that change is necessary. A circumstance is no longer serving my needs; and I am confident that the change will be for the better.
So change should be easy, right?!
Ummm…no.
Change can be hard for so many reasons:
Change fosters uncertainty. Uncertainty is uncomfortable. I care about the “thing” I’m leaving behind. I feel a sense of responsibility to my job/people/past self. I am afraid of failure post-change. Change comes with vulnerability and being vulnerable is a scary place to be.
Sometimes pre-change, all we can see is the big mountain of change standing right in front of us. It’s hard to see to the other side of change when we’re blinded by the mountain.
It can be helpful to first envision the other side of the mountain- the reasons for change:
“I want more time with my kids. I want more energy to invest in my own business. I want to give myself permission to pursue new relationships and new opportunities. I want to be present and enjoy life versus trudge my way through it.”
Making a change doesn’t have to mean an all out -all or nothing-no holds barred -leap into the unknown. But we can give ourselves permission to start thinking about change, remind ourselves of our motivations to change, and take first steps towards our desired change.
Sometimes, a first step is all it takes to build momentum.
Often, the mountain looks bigger than it actually is.
Always, the change you create is worth it.
So, be brave. Remember that you are deserving. Give yourself credit for all you are already doing. And give yourself permission to imagine something different and take a step foward.
I believe that you are worthy and that you have the skills, knowledge, and resources to create the change you want in your life.
I am thankful that you have come along on my journey; and I cannot wait to be a part of yours!
